セイラムは驚いたままです。
He was still surprised.

魔女はじっとセイラムを見つめました。
The witch kept her eyes on Salem.


『魔女さん』
セイラムは尋ねました。
" Ms Witch"
He asked her.

『どうして、僕なのですか？ 僕は何もしていません。ただ皆んなを見ていただけです。それに、僕は弱虫です。それなのに・・』
"Why you chose me. I didn't do anything good. I just watched everyone's performance. Moreover I am a coward."

『弱虫だって？ おまえが？』
魔女は言いました。
『お前ほど、強くて優しい猫は居ないよ』
"Do you think you are a coward?"
She said to him.
"No one is stronger and kinder than you."

『強い？ 僕が？』
" Am I strong? Me myself? "

魔女はにっこり微笑みました。
『ああ、そうだよ。お前は自分の心をコントロール出来る強い力を持っている。自分の欲求よりも他人を気遣い、その優しさを貫く強さだよ。誰にでも出来る事ではない』
She made a big smile.
"Yeah. I'm sure. You have the inner strength to control yourself. You care about others than youself, and you stand your ground for your own thoughtfulness. That's your special ability."

セイラムは黙って魔女の話を聞いていました。
He listened to her talk in silence.

『セイラム。お前、私に身体を触られて怖かっただろう？ 嫌だったろう？ 立派な爪や大きな身体を使えば、逃げられたのに、それをしなかったのは何故だい？』
"Salem. You were scared when I touched you, weren't you? You hate that, don't you? Why didn't you use your big body and great nails to escape from such annoyance?"


セイラムはハッとしました。
誰も傷つけたくない、それがセイラムがしたかった事。
He was startled.
Nobody is hurt by anyone, that was his hope.

『私の学校に来る 魔法使い見習いは、特別な強さを求めてやって来る。でもね、本当に強い人はね、優しくなければいけないんだ。自分のためにその力を使うのではなく、皆んなの幸せのために力を使わなければいけないんだよ。ま、優しいだけでもダメなんだけどね』
"All students, who want to be a strong witch or wizard, will come to school to learn special magic. But I think the strong people must have kindnesses. They should use their power for people's happiness, NOT for themselves. However, people can't live by kind things alone.



魔女は窓の外を憂いをもって眺めました。

She looked outside of the window in sorrow.

『僕で、いいんですか？』
"Do you want me?"


『もちろん。お前がいいんだよ。そのままのお前がね。一緒に来てくれるかい？』
"Definitely. I want Salem as you are. Will you come with me?"

『はい！ 宜しくお願いします！』
"Yes, mom. I'd love to."

セイラムは嬉しかった。
自分の存在を認めてくれる人がいるってこんなに嬉しい事だなんて。
Salem was happy.
What someone accepted him, is the wonderful thing.

自分が誰かのお役にたてれるなんて。
I will be useful for someone else.


そしてセイラムは幸せ過ぎて気がつかなかったのです。
And he missed one thing.

妹のサブリナの心にの苦い物が宿った事を・・・。
His sister harbored bitterness toward him in her heart.
