魔女がやって来た時、セイラムは箱部屋の奥深くに居ました。
誰にも会いたくないし、触られたくなかったからです。
When the witch came, Salem was in the back of the box house.
He didn't want to meet anyone nor patted by.

『いらっしゃいませ。どのような猫をお探しですか？』
カフェの管理人は尋ねました。
"May I help you? What kind of cats are you looking for?"
Asked the manager of the cafe.

『私の魔法学校を手伝ってくれる黒猫を探しています』
"I am looking for a black cat which is helping my magic school”

『ほほう。それでは、黒猫達をあつめましょう』
"I see. Then, let me gether all black cats for you"

集まった黒猫達は特技を魔女に見せました。 ある猫は、高くジャンプして見せたり、またある猫は愛らしくすり寄ってみたり、壁を駆け上がって見せたりする猫も居ました。
The all black cats showed their Special abilities before the witch. One cat showed her jumping high, another cat snuggled her charmingly, and also there was one that climbing on the wall.

セイラムは何やら外が騒がしいので、のそのそと箱から出てみました。すると、次は妹のサブリナの番でした。
Salem noticed something happened outside so he crawled out of the box. Just then, Sabrina was ready to show her talent.

サブリナは自慢の猫パンチを披露し、ネズミのオモチャを宙高く放り投げて空中でキャッチしてみせました。
She dabbed a paw proudly and threw a mouse toy up high in the air, then she jumped herself to catch it.

『ほほほ。 これはスゴイ』魔女は喜びました。
”Tee-hee. How great she is"

『サブリナです』 管理人は紹介しました。『この子は賢く、元気で、人馴れもしております。お勧めですよ！』
"She is Sabrina." The manager explained her.
" She is clever, cheerful and loves people. I surely recommend her."

うん。セイラムは思いました。
サブリナは頭が良いだけではなく、勇気もある自慢の妹だ。
" Sure." Salem thought. " My sister is not only clever she is also brave. I am proud of her."

それに比べて僕はダメだなぁ。
何も出来ない猫だ。
強くもなれない。隠れてばかりで弱い負け猫・・・。
On the other hand, I am no good at anything.
I can't do anything right.
I won't be strong. And always hiding. I am a loser.

セイラムはまた悲しくなりました。
He felt sad again.

『おや？』 魔女がセイラムに気がつきました。『あの黒猫は誰だい？』
"Oh?" The witch noticed that Salem was there. " Who's that?"

『ああ”』
管理人は言いました”
『あれはセイラムです。あの猫はお勧めしません。臆病で箱から出てきませんよ。とうてい魔女さんのお手伝いなど出来る猫ではありません』
"Ah"
The manager said.
" He is Salem. I don't think he suits you. He is scared and he doesn't come out from the box. He can't possibly help you a lot."

セイラムは管理人の言葉で、さらに傷つきました。
セイラムの眼に涙がみるみる溜まっていきました。
Salem was deeply hurt by her words.
His eyes filled with tears quickly.

『どれどれ』 魔女はスッとセイラムの近くにやって来て、あっと言う間にセイラムを高く持ち上げてしまいました。
"There, there." The witch moved slightly toward him and lifted him in an instant.

魔女はセイラムの身体の隅々までチェックしました。
お腹を触り、手足を触り、シッポを触り、目、口、耳の中まで覗き込みました。
She checked his every body. She touched his tummy, legs and a tail, then looked into his eyes, a mouth, a nose and even his ears.


セイラムは驚きと恐怖とくすぐったさで、魔女を引っ掻いて逃げ出したい気持ちをぐっと堪えて我慢しました。
However, Salem wanted to scratch her because she made him surprised, frightened and ticklish. He gulped back his emotions.

『あーはははは』
魔女は愉快に笑いました。
『これは、これは。 お前はスゴイ猫だね』
"Ha-ha-ha"
She laughed delightly.
"Well, well. You are an amazing cat!"

『え？』 セイラムはすごくびっくりしました。
"What?" Salem was very surprised.


『よし、決めた。セイラム、私はお前がいい！』
"Yes! I decided. I want you, Salem."


『えええええ！？』
"Whaaaaaat!?"

セイラムだけではなく、他の黒猫達や管理人も驚きました。
Salem was surprised again AND other black cats and even the manager, too.

『ど・・どうして、僕？』
"Wh・・Why me?"
